White leopard dress + my daily go-to necklaces.

I’ve worn these necklaces everyday for about 2 months now. I love them, and fell even more in love when Senna started playing with them while feeding… Either way, they go with everything and I’m obsessed! The earrings are a nice added touch when needed ;)

MOMMY MONDAY ... sleeping champion!!

Sleeping Champion

I know sleep is a tough subject to navigate for moms. I spent many hours in mommy & me feeling like I had to hide the fact that Senna was a good sleeper. I felt like I couldn’t celebrate my sleepy babe because it felt wrong to do so with so many others not sleeping well. Since I always encourage others to share and celebrate their triumphs, I decided to do the same.

With that being said, it needs to be said that Sleepy Senna is by nature… well… sleepy! So, like all things mom/baby related, do not judge your little one based on this sleepy little baby! All babies ARE different, truly!

Side note: her sleepiness is probably also why she lazily scoots backwards or rolls all over instead of crawling. See, we all have our strengths ;)

Celebration Time

I got Senna’s weekly Nanit report this morning, she slept an average of 12 hours a night.

  • the crowd goes wild *

Seriously though, how did I get so luckyyyyy!! My next kid will for sure refuse to ever sleep. All that to say, the Nanit report prompted today’s post!

My sister spoke to a sleep specialist!

My little sister, Savannah Labrant, spoke to a sleep specialist and shared one piece of advice that hit home and changed everything for us…

Blackout curtains in a babies room are a must! I was only rolling ours halfway down, this just happened to also be while she was in her sleep regression (and sleeping in a Pack-N-Play haha), but once I started utilizing our blackout curtains, it was a game changer!!

*note: those aren’t my curtains, but inexpensive one’s on Amazon (they are actually where my sister bought hers from though!)

2. Sleep Sack

THIS SLEEP SACK IS A GAME CHANGER!!!! I bought this sleep sack from Sprout, a kids store nearby, on the recommendation from the employee there. She said all the moms rave about it, and she wasn’t wrong. It is pricey, which is its only downfall. I tried to find a similar one on Amazon, but couldn’t (sorry!), but I didn’t want to let an affiliate link get in the way of the BEST sleep sack I’ve found… so, you’re welcome! Affiliate link free goodness! Just sharing from one mom to another ;)

-It’s down, like our comforters.

-Helps regulate body temperature

-Great once the little babes start rolling, since it’s arms free

-Helps Senna sleep SO WELL!!!!

-Only slight downfall is it is $$$

*note: Jokes aside, I only ever do affiliate links for actual products I use or I’m talking about. I will do my best to always let you know a product I’m linking to that I haven’t personally tried yet… like the curtains above ;)

3. Baby Cam

THE NANIT!!! OMG. Both my sister and I have tried FAR too many baby cams. This is both of our favorites!!! I love that it’s overhead and gets an amazing view, and you can zoom in! It has night mode if you want to leave the screen up on your phone, I personally just leave background sound on all night. It works SO well.

Breathing wear. I’ve switched to using this to monitor breathing now. Senna sleeps on her tummy so I’m always a concerned mama, of course. This breathing wear is just a piece of fabric that you put under the little ones arms and the Nanit smart cam monitors their breathing that way. So it’s all on the same app, which I love!

I cannot beam to you enough about my love of this monitor!!!!!

In case you’re curious, my second runner up monitor is the Project Nursery. I loved that it had it’s own monitor, especially when she was a newborn. As a new mama I was always so afraid that my phone would turn off, die, or something crazy, and I’d miss her crying… So, I loved this camera when she was little! BUT, it does cut out at a certain distance, which stinks, whereas the Nanit goes and goes and goes!

My favorite sound machine!! It was recommended to me by a few moms ;)

I also bought the travel version for our trip, and adore that one as well. I now will use the travel one on her door to drown out extra noise if I’m having friends over while she’s asleep.

My sister, Savannah, loves this sound machine. It is REALLYYYY loud… granted, so is her 6 year old daughter Everleigh, so I get it ;)

Her old Project Nursery camera had a blue light on it and Senna would just stare at it!!! The sleep specialist recommended it be pitch black “you don’t even want to see your own hands”. Basically, if it’s completely dark then the baby can’t entertain themselves and stay up… they will get bored, and go back to sleep (hopefully).

The Nanit doesn’t have a light (but still has night vision) and so it allows the room to be DARK!!!! Another reason I love it.

6. My favorite temperature control / purifier!

The Dyson Pure Hot + Cold

I love that it purifies the air, of course!!! BUT it also has climate control, so you don’t have to worry about the room overheating! For me personally, I love that it has a controlled temperature that I can choose and it keeps the room at that temp!

  1. Blackout curtains

  2. Sleep Sack

  3. Nanit with stand

  4. Nanit breathing wear

  5. Marpac sound machine

  6. Travel size sound machine

  7. Savannah’s favorite loud sound machine

  8. The Dyson Pure Hot + Cold

I still SWEAR by the Snoo!! It really was the best possible sleep trainer for Senna. I do give a huge part of her sleepiness up to the Snoo! If you have a baby on the way, it’s worth a look into!!! I’ve also heard that you can now rent them :)

Happy Sleeping, mamas!!! Most importantly, no judgement! Whether your little one is sleeping 13 hours a night or 2, you’re amazing!

With love,

Breastfeeding Awareness Month

Breastfeeding Awareness Month

Happy Breastfeeding Awareness Month!!! August is almost over, but I wanted to take this opportunity to say congratulations to all the mamas out there feeding your babies!!! …and I mean ALL the moms feeding their babies. Whether you are breastfeeding, pumping, formula feeding, or all of the above! Way to go keeping your tiny human alive (and chunkyyy… give me all the baby rolls!).

Here are a few of my favorite breastfeeding products. I’ve tried out a few brands of pumps (perks of the job, I guess), and the Medela Sonata is the one that I use non-stop. It’s also the one I’ve been suggesting to my numerous friends who are all pregnant now, yay!

-Medela Sonata Pump

-MUST HAVE breast shield (PersonalFit Flex) it helps pump out more milk faster… and it’s super comfy. I am OBSESSED with this shield and I would HIGHLY suggest it as an add on!

-Storage bottles Obviously gotta save the milk on the go and sometimes I’m too busy to pour it into a bag and just leave it in these and stick it into the fridge or into my cooler.

-Storage bags an actual must have if you’re planning on storing milk up for that weekend away ;) or let’s be honest, it’ll most likely just be a night out!

-Quick Clean Pump Wipes these have come in handy on soooo many car pump occasions. They happen far more than you’d expect them to, and you don’t exactly have a sink at that moment to clean the parts with ;)

Funny story: Senna has been doing this for a few months now, but while eating she sticks her hand in my mouth and plays with the back of my bottom teeth, haha! Anyone else’s baby do this? Or any weird funny things they like to do?

Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this blog post, and RewardStyle. All links are affiliate links through RewardStyle, but as always, all opinions are my own & all products are truly products I use and love :)

Sleep training (I am NO expert, but this is what we've been doing)

Sleep training

(I am NO expert, but this is what we've been doing)

I am FAR from an expert, and don’t claim to know too much in the area of sleep training. I just purely wanted to share what we have done/are doing with Senna in hopes that even one mom gets a little extra sleep ;)

3 weeks old

Senna slept in our bedroom with us her first 2.5-3weeks. She was on the verge of jaundice and I had to feed every hour and a half her first week. So, I was clearly far too lazy to walk to her nursery that many times a night while half asleep. I applaud any mom who was able to!! 3 weeks came along and we put Senna into her nursery in her Snoo. I was terrified, it felt so weird to put her alone so early. She was so tiny and little, and selfishly I loved having my hand on her little tummy all night. I had all these fears, but my mother-in-law had gifted us a night doula and I figured: its now or never! Snoo, the owlet, my night monitor, plus doula combined…. we did it!!! AND I SLEPT!!!!

  1. The Snoo

  2. The Owlet

  3. Project Nursery night monitor

Side note: I got a traditional old school monitor aka one that comes with its own little monitor vs just being able to use on your phone, AND I had the newer monitor (that you see on your phone). The one on my phone kept turning off in the night randomly, and therefore terrified me because what if I didn’t hear her (as if that’s possible)? BUT all that being said, I LOVE the old school monitor way, it just sits next to my bed on level 2 all night (even now that she’s 6 months) and I don’t ever worry that it will turn off on me! YAY! Highly recommend!

SERIOUS MUST HAVE! It is the only thing that allowed me to sleep all night. Being able to know that she is breathing, safe all night, and that I would loudlyyyyyy be told if anything even started to drop off was a game changer! Someone very close to me lost their infant to SIDS, so it has always been something that has worried me. For those of you who don’t know what an Owlet does, the quick description is that it monitors their heart rate and oxygen levels through a little sock that they wear, and let’s you know if those levels drop below a certain level. I have since bought it for my two newest pregnant friends as their baby shower gifts!

So, putting Senna into her own room went smoothly! Sleepy Senna became even sleepier when not disturbed by my husband and myself during the night. Within the first week of her being in her nursery she was sleeping from about 10pm -5am. SLEEPY SENNA!!!! Our poor night doula had nothing to do during the last few days she was helping us! She later started sleeping from 9pm until about 7-9am!

Our night doula had given us a few tips for if/when Senna had a sleep regression. I was SO thankful she did. I loved her insight, and I’ve since heard it from a few night training experts… Rather than just “cry it out” you simply go in and put your hand on your baby to let her know you’re there when she starts crying at night.

When sleep regression started…

Senna had gotten a cold, and I was of course feeding her in the middle of the night during these stuffy nosed wake ups! After that, we went to visit my sister in OC and she was still having a 3-5am wake up where I would feed. Since sleepy Senna had slept longer earlier on, I knew she was fully capable of doing so. So at her 5th month b-day we decided to try and ween her off that 3-5am feeding and get her back to a 7-9am range!

Easier said than done!

If I’m being honest, the first few times I went in and held Senna bouncing her back to sleep but trying to refrain from feeding her. I’m sure I fed her a few times. THEN I got serious. My mommy and me class instructor who specialized in sleep training said, “If you keep picking her up, she will keep crying”. She suggested the same method my doula had, the hand on tummy to let the baby know you’re there. We committed to trying it.

Night 1 trying: I walked in and sat there for about 10 minutes with my hand on Senna. Walked back to bed. My husband and I lied in bed holding hands listening to her cry. For the first 5 minutes I sat there asking him if I should go in? Then almost started crying myself, partially from exhaustion, partially because no mom (or dad) wants to hear their little girl cry!!! …but a few minutes later, she stopped! Her cry went to a mmmmmm hmmmmm mmmmm type noise, and then she was out.

Night 3 trying : My husband tells this story (and most all stories) far better than I can! BUT, I’ll try my best….

After 2 nights on duty, I sent in my husband. I sat there staring at the monitor as his hand was on Senna… she cried, and cried, then started to bawl! He caved and picked her up.

That’s when it happened!!!

Side note: I had been telling him for a month that Senna says, “mama” when she is sad and wants me. He refused to believe me since most babies first word is dada and he was VERY much hoping that’d be the case for Senna.

Back to the nursery at about 3am…. Coulter is rocking her, holding her against his chest, when she cries in the saddest little voice and says “ma ma maaaa, ma ma maaaaaa” over and over.

I walk into the room, and hold her, Coulter looks like he may cry.

After putting her down, I go crawl back into our bed… Coulter says he is completely defeated. Don’t worry night 4 came and he successfully put his hand on her and then came back to bed ;)

Not gonna lie…

I’m not going to lie, this technique did take a little longer than I expected. Partially, possibly, because we moved into a new home in the middle of this training… but about 3-4weeks later IT WORKED!

We did a little less time each night, then we were able to not go into her room at all. She would cry for a minute and fall back asleep on her own.

Not gonna lie, again…

She successfully slept from 9pm till about 8-9:30am for a solid week. YAY!!! BUT last night she woke up at 5am, I put my hand on her after about 10 minutes of crying. She yanked my hands down toward her over and over… I walked out after 10 minutes and she just continued to cry… this happened 2 more times before I gave up, took her to my bed, and fed and snuggled her. She slept till 9:30 after though! haha

All this to say

I’ve learned it’s never going to work perfectly the way I want it to. I’m learning to cope with that, but I love at least trying to teach her to self soothe, as I personally think it is such a necessary skill for later in life. I also selfishly love my sleep! So, I will keep trying…. as long as it takes! BUT, I will also enjoy all the early morning snuggles until then ;)

Please let me know if you have any tips, as always!!!! IG DM or comment below!

Also, let me know if anyone has questions on a night doula, Snoo, Owlet, or anything else I’ve mentioned! Happy to provide more details, always!

With love,

No crib in our new crib  - Mommy Monday

No crib in our new crib.

We don’t have a crib in our new crib (Are you only allowed to use that term while on MTV? Maybe that should be a thing). But really, our old nursery goods, baby crib included, are still all being used as staging at our old house.

Why would you leave your crib?

Great question! We have the Snoo which Senna was meant to be in until 6 months at which point we head to NY for 2 weeks and will be transitioning her during that point (since she has to sleep in a pack and play then anyways!). We hoped (& still do) that our house will sell by the time we get back from the trip at which point we can move her crib into our new house! Yay!

What happens if not?

As an enteral optimist I’d say, it’ll happen! But, as the date quickly approaches I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I’ve been racking my brain for ideas just in case. The only one I’ve come up with is to just continue to use her pack and play in our house after the trip? Pleaseeeee let me know if you have any better ideas!!!!! Haha! Also, I will be googling away to make sure pack and play is ok for extended use. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be, but Google truly is a mom’s best friend (just kidding Savannah & Rachel, you’re both irreplaceable).

Changing a baby on the floor...

I’ve come to realize how incredible changing tables are! Changing a baby on the floor multiple times daily is not ideal for a post-birthing-mom. Our bodies are already trying so hard to put all our organs back into their right places, mend our lower back after being in a weird tilt for so long, and cinch our uterus back to a pre-baby (or at least as close to as possible) size. Add in holding a baby 24/7, breastfeeding, and picking a baby up and down all day... the last thing you want to add to that list is squatting down to the floor while holding a baby to change a diaper hunched over a changing pad on the floor 8-13 times a day. Yikes.

Pleaseeeeeeee come back to me changing tableeeeeee!

The Old Nursery!

…and where my crib is being held hostage!

  • The Snoo (our #1 recommendation for a bassinet that helps baby sleep)

  • The Hatch Baby Grow smart changing pad - it weighs your little

  • Hatch Baby night light - Amazing for toddlers as well cause it changes color at certain times. AKA you teach your little that they can’t leave their room until the light turns from blue to red… etc… Also, it’s a sound machine!

  • Sound machine - the best to travel with, also just amazing! Coulter and I used it in our room and slept like babies ;) It’s now in Senna’s nursery by the door for nap time to drown out noise…. Just reminded myself to amazon a new one for Coulter and I again!!

  • MY CRIB!!!! I love the look of this crib!!!! It was just so fun. This is the “normal” style crib, and this one is the even more retro fun crib (I kept going back and forth with this crib and mine, and the only reason I went with my crib was for dark wood… I honestly liked this look even more!).

  • My changing table - matches with the crib!

  • Pineapple Crate and Barrel basket - I used as a hamper, but will use for toys in the new house cause we have a hamper in the closet now.

  • Bookshelf / toy shelf from Crate and Barrel - I searched through soooo many sites looking for a specific look and also a shorter/smaller shelf to fit this room. I am IN LOVE with this shelf!

  • All that aside, Snoo has been amazing and I’m sad that it’s transition time!

  • Sleep training & the “cry it out” weren’t too bad & I promise to share my experience with that next week!

  • The new house still has boxes all over the garage (see post here), but I’ve come to realize that my car just loves the driveway!  I’m purely trying to cater to its needs.

  • Lastly, baby girl is sooooooo alert these days! Almost 6 months old & she is just pure & endless entertainment!

Let me break it down for you…

Moving with a baby!!! Mommy Monday

Moving with a baby!!! Mommy Monday

Trying: is the word that best describes the situation.

Followed closely by tired.

But, trumped by excitement.

Of course!!

Yes, of course, the week that Senna started the “leap of the world of relationships” (according to The Wonder Weeks app) would align perfectly with our move into our new home. Basically, she realized that she & I are not the same person, and that I can leave a room and not be there with her anymore. Yup. Perfect timing.

Rest assured packing while holding a baby, even in a Solly wrap, is trying!

Next up: Sleep regression. Granted, I am self aware enough to know that I was spoiled with a sleepy child, & I try to not take that for granted. After many hours of Mommy and Me classes hearing the stories of sleep deprivation, I am fully aware of how sleep deprived moms can actually be!

Side note: Senna was referred to as “Sleepy Senna” on many occasions by our AMAZING teacher. Mainly because she slept through almost every class, loud singing included!

But, the 4 month sleep regression started around 4.5 months, & I decided (for some insane reason) to start the “cry it out” method right before we packed up to move.

**More on this later!! BUT OMG it is heartbreaking, any moms with sleep training tips feel free to send them my way ;)

Also, the Snoo is still my #1 recommendation for getting babies to sleep! I have 3 friends with babies on their way and that and the Owlet have been my first recs! I really do think it is a HUGE reason why Senna slept about 10 hours on average a night from 2 months on… and why her “sleep regression” has been fairly easy compared to stories I’ve heard! IT. IS. AMAZING.

Snoo = Helps baby sleep

Owlet = Helps me sleep (since it moniters the baby’s heart and oxygen levels it keeps me from waking up and checking on her constantly through the night)

Sleep deprivation, a child who needs to stay in the same room as you, and packing = A great combo

I wish I had some brilliant secret tips for you all! I think the only one I currently can come up with is, spend money on strong coffee & stay calm. It’s taking longer than expected to unpack, but I turned on some music and we’ve been dancing our way through it!! I also have just thrown every box I don’t want to deal with into the garage…. are those supposed to be for cars?

Now off to unpack some more.

…and avoid going into my garage!

We started eating oatmeal. SO fun! I went with this brand because it’s a female founded company and it’s organic + has probiotics!

Starting solids this week!!! So, if anyone has any advise PLEASEEEEE tell me! From high chairs, to types of food (making your own vs brands), to spoons/plates, and everything in between!

The Art of Distraction (taught to me by my 6 year old niece) - Mommy Monday

The Art of Distraction

(taught to me by my 6 year old niece)

Mommy Monday

Parenting Tips From a 6 Year Old

Who would have guessed that my 6 year old niece (and my 22 year old brother-in-law) would be the ones to teach me my best new baby trick! Senna and I took our first flight on our own (more on that later) to go see my family in OC. It was such a fun trip!!! Poor baby girl HATED being in the car so much…. she’s used to those short SF drives not that Southern CA traffic haha!

The Art of Distraction

Everleigh, my niece, is a natural born entertainer. She just wants to make you smile, show off dance moves, and entertain you non-stop! She in-turn does this with her sister (who is 3 weeks older than Senna), and started doing it with Senna. We would be in the car and she’d go “BLAHHHH” a trick she learned from a Baby Einstein youtube video (hahahhaha). Making all sorts of funny noises to get the girls to take their minds off of being stuck in a car seat. It was endearing, of course, but also ***light bulb**** moment for me. My natural instinct was always to coo “It’ll be ok, we’re almost home” in a soft voice while in the car. Not to make loud silly sounds.

I know that distracting Senna into thinking she’s happy often works. I do it when I’m changing her diaper, making it into a fun game and singing songs… she now loves diaper changes!! I do it when I’m putting her clothes over her head, she gets shocked and I’ll loudly go “WOW” “Oh my goodness” “Why helloooooo again there” type goofy phrases to make her startled self smile when she’s on the verge! There’s so many examples of times where I naturally did this. In the car was not one of them, and restaurants weren’t either!

These toys were also a huge help!!!!! My sister has all the gadgets, what with it being kid #2 for her, and I learned a thing or two from her as well. So, I of course wanted to share this new found wisdom with all of you!!!

The Thing That Warmed My Heart The Most

Everleigh made Senna CRACK UP!!!! She would take a pool noodle and hand it to Senna sweetly. Let her play with it for a second or two while cooing at her, then pull it away making silly noises and dancing in an exaggerated fashion.

Needless to say, Senna is obsessed with both her cousins and giggling up a storm these days. Which like most things she does, melts my heart completely.

Thanks for making such sweet, smiley, hysterical babies, Savannah!!!

Home Tour Part 2: Bedrooms

Welcome back to my home tour!

In Part 1, I showed you how I created a bright, airy and inviting space to entertain our friends and family. Now let’s get a bit more personal as I show you what I did to our three bedrooms. I wanted to create small escapes from the hustle and bustle of city life with pops of color and a bohemian flair.

Screen Shot 2019-06-02 at 2.00.25 PM.png

For our master bedroom it was all about the bed. Big, luxurious and comfortable were the main requirements. We needed plenty of comfy cozy textured throws to satisfy the needs of the whole family (including our mini pig and dog who nap here more than we do). I have to admit that I have rotated our bedding every few days to get a fresh color palette in here. Tip: Buy 2 sets for your master bedroom with different looks, this way every time you launder your bedding becomes an opportunity to freshen up the vibe with a different set. This look is all about warm neutrals, luxurious textures and that pop of teal and blue. The leather loveseat in the corner is one of my favorite pieces in the house and our dog Smooch agrees that it has the best city view in the house! You can find him perched her most mornings staring dreamily out the window. It’s quite the life that deaf dog has.

Pottery Barn Faux Fur Throw ($149)

Crate & Barrel Slate Concrete Planter ($79.95)

Screen Shot 2019-06-02 at 2.00.17 PM.png

For our guest room, I really wanted to play with color. Because I was pretty tame with the main areas of the house, I thought there was no better place than this room to incorporate a pop of color. Can you tell I’m a fan of blue hues? I’m also becoming quite the plant lady and had so much fun at Floral Grub in San Francisco picking out my plant babies. Every one asks about this “Imagine” sign. I actually got it………..

For our final bedroom we decided to keep it classic and give my hubby a little space to work, to play and to add his own little decorative flair. At first, I was worried that this would be the room that all our mismatched furniture would go to live… and maybe die. Ultimately, I am really happy with how this room turned out! It’s warmer and cooler than I could have every expected and I love that it kept a bit of our personality with my guitar and his car obsession.

"Really Looks Like a Boy" - Mommy Monday

So, let me start out by saying I am SO sorry I’ve been behind on Mommy Monday posts! I have some fun stuff happening and will talk about it in next weeks post so it makes sense why I’ve been a little busy and behind (other than you know, juggling being a mom and working in general ;p haha).

Massage at home YAY!?!

It’d been a CRAZY busy week and my loving husband suggested that I order a Soothe to our house (if you haven’t tried this, it’s amazing. It’s like postmates but in massage form!). We were hanging out with Senna on the couch when the masseuse rang our doorbell. To preface this encounter, please note that Senna was wearing nothing but a diaper.

Me: “Hi, come on in”

Her: “Your baby is so cute, how old?”

Me: “Awww thanks, 4 months”

Her: “He’s a boy, right?”

Me: “No, she’s a girl.. but I mean all babies kind of look the same at this age, since they don’t have hair yet”

Her: “But no, it really looks like boy!!”

Falling off my high (rocking) horse

COOL COOL COOL. Thanks lady, I tried to give you an out for calling my little girl a boy and you CLEARLY didn’t take it. HAHAHAH!!! Well, that’s the day I fell off my high (rocking) horse, so-to-speak. Also, I apologize in advance for all the bows that are now going to constantly appear on my daughters head just so this mixup doesn’t crush my soul again ;p

Home Tour Part 1: Welcome to our home!

Until now, this blog has focused mainly on my fashion and new mommy lifestyle but I’m happy to announce a brand new section coming to Bridge To Bohemia this week. I’ve had hopes of expanding the blog for some time now to give you an even deeper glimpse into my world and now felt like the right time to do it. So here we go, I have decided to start an interior design section here and I couldn’t be more excited as this is a hobby and interest of mine. I truly believe that your home is an extension of your own unique personal style and decorating is something that I’ve become more and more passionate about over the last few years. That said, for our first interior design post I decided to share something quite personal and close to my heart, my own home. So welcome inside the space that my hubby and I have shared these last few years. It’s been a work in progress but now that it’s complete I couldn’t help but share all our hard work!

As many couples know, moving in together is full of compromises and one of the first ones that you embark on is merging your unique styles. I have to be honest, I loved the challenge of combining my husband’s clean, rustic minimalism with my more luxe bohemian aesthetic. I swear he could buy a whole room from Restoration Hardware and call it a day, no questions asked. Thank goodness that Restoration is one of my favorites because we started with some killer pieces to anchor the rooms.

For our entryway the key was to eliminate clutter and have a place to drop the essentials. Keys, purses, sunglasses, leashes, and everyday pig-walking shoes can be discretely hidden in this cabinet. Some abstract art and mirror kept it feeling like a warm welcome as guests walk in.

When decorating a house it’s difficult to decide where to start. It can be overwhelming. I decided to start with the rooms that our guests would get to enjoy, that way we could feel comfortable hosting in a finished home before tackling the more intimate spaces. That left me with the main living and entertaining areas, the entry way and bathrooms. The bedrooms would come later when I had some time to perfect what we wanted to do with our personal space. Because our main living space is an open layout, I wanted it to feel bright, clean and modern yet still warm and inviting enough to host a casual Bachelor viewing party with boxes of take-out on the couch.

Original Chair from Joybird (they don’t make it anymore, but I love Joybird!

Pulaski Brown Leather Accent Chair ($965.25)

A neutral palette of various textures and materials kept the space feeling open, industrial accents kept my hubby happy and allowed me to fill the space with plants and textiles that brought a little life.

West Elm Terrace Floating Frame ($25)

Houzz Faux Succulents ($145)

Restoration Hardware Salvaged Wood Farmtable ($4325)

The last project to tackle was the bathrooms. These were pretty easy because most of the work was done for me by the architect who remodeled this home. The space was designed with light in mind and both of our guest bathrooms are full of bright light, large windows and all white fixtures. All I needed to do was add a little interest throughout which I chose to do with unexpected art and copper accents. I especially love these photography piece that uses the mugshots of famous musicians as an art compilation.

Tony Rubino Musical Mugshots ($47.04)

So what’s next on our tour? Why the bedrooms of course! Stay tuned later this week for a breakdown of our bedroom, guest room, office and of course the newest edition, Senna’s nursery!

With love,

Mama's Day Out with Jouer

I was in need of a day dressed up and out and about town last week so I was thrilled to be invited to a launch party for the new pressed powder from Jouer. The whole event was set up at one of my favorite french bakeries, Le Marais, in San Francisco. There were pastries, mimosas, and an amazing french dinner. I was so happy to get an opportunity to chat with other bay area beauty bloggers and meet Jouer’s founder. Rachel (from 5oclocksunday) came as my guest and it was great to get out and about without the kiddos to catch up and learn some new beauty secrets.

I made sure to rock my Jouer beauty products to the event. The eyeshadow palette is my new daily go to and the lip plumper is incredible! The new flawless finish powder is the perfect final finish too! Head over to Jouer to pick-up these essentials.

OOTD: Midi Sweater Dress

Sometimes you need to do things a little bit differently…

Who said sweaters have to be worn as layering pieces? If you live in a breezy climate like I do in San Francisco then you know all about light layering. And the cardigan is a breastfeeding Mama’s dream piece. I will say that it has been quite warm these last few weeks in the Bay Area and I’ve been a bit short on time. And you know when the best ideas come to you? When you are running out the door, short on time and want to be comfy cozy and ready for all weather. And there you have it, a longline cardigan by NA-KD worn as a curve-hugging midi dress. I don’t know about you guys but I am FEELIN’ this look.

Alright guys, love this look? Check out some similar styles in my shopping guide below. And comment below which trend you’d like me to try next!

With love,

My Look

Mommy and Me Style: Graphic Leopard Print Dress

A leopard doesn’t change it’s spots…

and neither should you

Alright, I’ve been converted. Can you tell? I’m officially a fan of animal prints. Ask me a year ago how I felt about them and the story would be vastly different. Today, however, animal prints (traditional, colorful and oversized) are spilling out of my closet. You can be a believer too (and a belieber *cue dancing to Beibs while in your leopard dress*), don’t worry, all it takes is a deep breath little bit of bravery. I’m telling you, this is your new go-to move for an easy, accessible and stylish weekend look. Peek in my closet and you can tell I’m truly obsessed.

Can we also talk about my sweet girl playing peek-a-boo under her blanket in this photo?

If you want to take the plunge and try your hand at a leopard print then check out the shopping guide below. My dress is by Rahi but I’ve included plenty of options for you to test the waters. Good luck! Oh and tag me in your animal print looks so I can see them and shout you out! I love to see whenever you’re inspired by my #OOTDs.

With love,

We took our first family trip! We went to Arizona to meet up with the LaBrants aka my little sis, Savannah, and her family. We planned for a fun weekend getaway lounging by the pool, which meant that Senna was about to have her first flight and her first time in a swimming pool all in the same day! Exciting!

I’ve heard stories from both sides of the spectrum: babies who slept the whole flight and babies who cried the whole flight. I was nervous. Personally, I get sick on almost every flight. I’ve had horrible motion sickness my whole life (but I loveeeeee traveling so I just don’t let it control my life). With that being said, I was terrified that I might be passing this “wonderful” motion sickness on to my daughter.

*insert nervous mom boarding a plane here*

I read that feeding for take off and landing helps, so as we started to taxi I put Senna on my boob. Of course, five minutes later they told us there is now a line of airplanes waiting for takeoff and it’ll be a 30 minute delay.

cool, cool, cool.

The great debate of which might be worse!? She finishes eating and we’re still waiting and I’m of course in panic mode trying to figure out how to make her want to eat again in 10mins when we do take off!
“Flight attendants, please prepare for take off” comes over the loudspeaker with "loud" being the keyword. Senna is startled awake and looks at me like someone has just yelled directly at her & starts bawling.

cool, cool, cool.

I bounce her and put her back on my boob and thankfully she soothingly sucks for 30 seconds and passes back out... right as we take off! SUCCESS!!!

SIDE NOTE: a cozy blanket for the cold flight is a must! Also, the Moby wrap or Solly Baby Wrap is incredibly helpful so your arm doesn’t burn out holding your sleepy infant as you try desperately not to wake them ;) I’ve also heard amazingggggg things about this Doona stroller cause it folds into a carseat and is small and easy to travel with. Didn’t purchase in time, but i’m going to before our August flight to NYC!

Coulter, Senna, and I head down to baggage claim where we find Savannah, Cole (her hubby), and their girls Posie & Everleigh.

Senna needs a diaper change, but I’ve still never changed her diaper in a public restroom! Haha... I guess I’m nervous to? Plus, I always just go to my car... more on that in a future post though. Suffice it to say, I decided to wait 15 minutes until we reached our destination.

Oh, did I not mention that my sis and I cleverly tied in a salon appointment into this trip ;p
