EASY FESTIVAL HAIR #COACHELLA

Easy Festival Hair with Bobby Pins

Festival season is the perfect opportunity to experiment, especially with your hair and makeup. That said, not everyone has a beauty squad with them to help them get Coachella ready. You all already packing tons of amazing festival looks so I’m going to make your life a little easier, and your carry-on a little lighter. Here are two beautiful and simple festival inspired looks that you can quickly recreate on your own. The best part? All you need to pack is a case of bobby pins.

Look 1: More is More

You know that quote about taking one thing off before you leave the house? Well, ignore that for this look. Pile on a row of decorative bobby pins to create a look that’s one part retro and one part bubble gum pop star. Start with loose textured waves created with a barrel curling iron or softly braid your hair the night before for low maintenence texture. Next, add a side part and pile on the pins. Expert tip: Be sure to flip the bobby pins, randomly in both directly to create an effortlessly cool vibe.

What you need:

  1. Textured Waves

  2. Salt Spray

  3. A handful of decorative bobby pins

Look 2: Geometry Class

All this look requires is a friend (or a hand mirror) to help you see the back of your head. Just slide a few colorful bobby pins into waved and teased hair to create a beautiful geometric design along your crown.

What you need:

  1. Textured Waves

  2. Salt Spray

  3. A handful of colorful bobby pins

Benefit Pink Palace HQ Visit

I got to tour the PINK PALACE aka Benefit's HQ. It was amazing and amazingly pink. So, I’m clearly in love with Benefit and I love even more that they are a brand born and raised in SF, that's still based here. They genuinely have some of my go to makeup. The concealer, brow gel + brow pencil, and hula bronzer are ALWAYS in my makeup bag and the shadow has become a new favorite thing along with a few other products I’ve included below.

Girl's Date at Senspa X Cosmedix

I took my bestie to Senspa for a girl’s date complete with Cosmedix facials.

Last week I took my bestie (aka Rachel from @5oclocksunday) with me to Senspa to get Cosmedix facials. Senspa is an amazing hidden gem located in the Presidio of San Francisco. I love that it’s a bit off the beaten path and a nice little surprise oasis on the north side of town. Our aestheticians were absolutely lovely and customized each facial to our unique skin needs. After check-in we each consulted with our facialist and they recommended the perfect Cosmedix products based on our areas of concern. We both decided that we wanted a boost of hydration but it was great to see how different our experiences were. Let’s just say, we both came out glowing!

A few things that I love about the Cosmedix brand:

  • They are cruelty-free! This has become more and more of a standard when I’m searching for products.

  • They believe that “what you put on your skin is as important as what you put in your body” and I absolutely agree…. especially with this little one growing in my belly.

  • Their products are completely great for sensitive skin because they are free of harsh and irritating ingredients such as parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum, PEGs, sodium lauryl sulfate, hydroquinone, glycolic acid and artificial dyes and fragrances.

  • And they work! That’s selfishly the best part. They make your skin look and feel really great.

My favorite part of my facial was the LED light machine they used after my amazing mask, it really makes your skin look and feel so plump and youthful. Rachel had them focus on exfoliating her skin and bringing back some glow into her new mom skin (as she calls it, I personally think her skin looks great). I will say, I’m going to spend as much time as possible indulging in the self love before my sweet little girl gets her because I’m sure I’ll have far less time on my hands post-baby.

After our treatment we drank some cucumber infused water and took a mini-tour of the Senspa facilities before I had to jump on a flight to Los Angeles. I wish we had more time to hang in their silent meditation rooms and cafe but that will have to be saved for our next facial. If you want to check out the full Cosmedix product line you can here. And definitely check out their spa exclusive product set as well. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

Video: Recreate my Bridal Makeup in 15 minutes

I loved my bridal makeup so much I recreated it for an every day look.

IMG_5209.JPG

I was so in love with the natural glowing makeup that Moni created for my wedding day that I asked her to translate it into a 15 minute look that I can wear any day. We used all of the makeup from my big day but limited the time we spent in order to make this a realistic every day look. How much do you love it? You can never really go wrong with a nude eye, glowing skin and pink lip. To learn how to recreate this look yourself see our full tutorial and shopping guide below.

A Funny Wedding Story x Secret Deodorant

Secret Deodorant Clinical Strength

dsc01788.jpg

So, I’m about to get super real with you guys. Take you back to May 12th, 2018…. The day I got married (OMG YAY!!!). Let me start off by explaining that I am insanely lucky to not ever really get stressed out. I’ve always been one to take things in stride and let what will be, be. To the point that it infuriated my poor mother that I was cool as a cucumber during very stressful times throughout life…. But, that’s me! With that being said, wedding week had be a little excited and maybe even anxious (in a very good kind of way) and dare I say…. Stressed?

Fast forward to moments before I hop onto the shuttle to walk down the aisle. I’m with my bridesmaids, my mom, and Ty French (the incredible wedding photographer) fixing up my makeup and getting so emotionally ecstatic that it’s about to be time. My mom leans over hugging me, telling me how gorgeous I look and how proud she is of the man I chose, then says “...by the way sweetie you kind of smell”. I was mortified, I have never been a smelly type, I put on deodorant that morning, I’m about to walk down the aisle and hug so many people … I CAN'T SMELL. My mom runs up to my hotel grabs my deodorant (not Secret yet, unfortunately, or this story wouldn’t be happening), and we have an emergency wipe and then reapply session.

dsc01790.jpg

I head down the aisle, crisis averted. BUT, I wish I’d have had Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant then, because it is truly amazing. I got back home from wedding bliss and immediately decided I was never going to have a possible smelly moment ruin my confidence, high on life, or fun again. No one should ever be worried or self conscious over such an easy fix, the right deodorant… Secret Clinical Strength.

Since then, I have taken Secret out on the road testing it out and falling in love. I went to New Orleans with Coulter, my hubby (it’s still so dang fun saying that!), for his work trip. NOLA, for those that haven’t been before, is an insanely hot and muggy place to be! My deodorant was 100% being tested. We went out on a swamp tour surrounded by alligators, talk about exhilarating, in 95 degree humid heat, and I was dry and smelling fab.

I am honored to be a Secret collaborator now, and so excited to have a fool proof, no back up plan needed, deodorant. Use Secret Clinical Strength Invisible Solid just once for all-day strong wetness protection. I am genuinely obsessed! So, thank you Secret Clinical Strength for the amazing product and for partnering with me! Truly in love. Be smart, be confident, be your best self, always!

Sister Style: Bohemian Braids
Photo Aug 11, 6 47 52 PM.jpg

As I'm sure you've noticed, my sister Savannah and I are big fans of wearing bohemian braids. These are especially great if you have second day hair yet still want to look like you put in a little effort. I also love the versatility of braids which can dress up a casual every-day look or even dress down fancier cocktail attire. Last time I was down visiting Savannah, we decided to get our friend Chrissy from Hair by Chrissy to show us how to take our braided hairstyles to a whole new level.

Photo Aug 11, 6 35 12 PM.jpg

For my before look, we started with my hair's natural texture and added subtle beach waves with a 1.5" curling wand. Next we let Chrissy work her magic while we messed around with my niece, Everleigh. Side note: For those of you interested in what I'm wearing, the tee above is Vintage Havana. For the rest of our looks check out the shopping guide at the bottom of this post.
